Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after a meeting of the National Security Council that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic would ban the holding of the EuroPride gay pride parade in Belgrade due to the threat of unrest against the backdrop of the crisis in Kosovo and Metohija.

The head of state stressed that the country is in a difficult situation, so he is not going to come up with reasons for canceling the event and talking about monkeypox.

“We are concerned about the security situation. The situation is difficult, we don’t want to see any unrest,” Vucic said.

The ban will be announced 36 hours before the start of the parade, and its organizers will be able to appeal the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in a legal manner.

A one-day gay parade was to be held in Belgrade from 12 to 18 September. The authorities of the European Union insisted on its implementation.
