The Serbian authorities have decided to suspend the export of weapons and military equipment in order to ensure national security following the instructions of President Aleksandar Vučić. This was announced on Friday, July 14, by the Minister of Defense of the Republic, Milos Vucevic.
The politician stressed that Serbia must constantly take care of its own sovereignty, integrity and independent policy, taking into account everything that has been happening recently in the world and in the region.
The suspension of arms exports will be valid for 30 days with the possibility of extension.
Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the lack of clear prospects for Ukraine’s membership in NATO does not mean that the members of the alliance refuse to support Kyiv. According to the Serbian leader, by the end of the year, the West is preparing some significant assistance for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The politician promised that Kyiv was expected “serious and wonderful things”, some “big gifts by the end of the year.” Vučić did not elaborate, noting only that the bulk of the “gifts” would come from the European Union.
