The Chkalovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced seven residents of the Sverdlovsk region in the case of the death of forty-four people from counterfeit alcohol. This was written by the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office.
“… punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 years 6 months to 6 years 6 months … The court sentenced the convicted woman to 3 years of suspended liberty with a probationary period of 3 years,” the report says.
The press service explained that, according to the investigation, in 2020-2021 the defendants were selling counterfeit alcohol in Yekaterinburg.
The prosecutor’s office noted that these products contained methyl alcohol in concentrations above the maximum permissible values.
After drinking alcohol, 51 people were injured, 44 of them died.
