Case dismissed against deceased killer

The verdict in the case of the attempted murder of singer Abraham Russo was handed down today by the Khamovniki Court of the capital. Although there were only two people in the dock, they divided the sentence into three, with their deceased comrade.

As it became known to MK, at the last stage of the process, an unexpected difficulty was created by the alleged killer Mikhail Demkin, who did not live to see the verdict (he died in 2014). The man’s daughter hoped the jury would find her father not guilty. Therefore, the case against Demkin was not separated into a separate proceeding and terminated.

Recall that the assassination attempt on Abraham Russo took place in 2006 on Burdenko Street – the singer was fired upon when he was returning home after a concert and wounded in the leg.

As a result, the late Demkin was mentioned in the verdict. With regard to him, it was said that the man was guilty (as the jury decided) and the criminal prosecution against him was terminated due to death.

The judge determined the punishment only for two living defendants – Vitaly Dzhura and Alexei Tryasnikov. They pleaded not guilty.

By the way, Tryasnikov’s third lawyer entered the process after the jury’s verdict, before the last word of the defendant. The lawyer demanded to get acquainted with the criminal case, which caused the sentence to be postponed to another day.

The state prosecutor asked for a sentence of 10 years in prison for Dzhura in a strict regime colony, for Tryasnikov – 14 years in prison.

The Khamovniki court sentenced Tryasnikov to 12 years in prison, Vitaly Dzhur to 9 years.

With regard to the alleged organizer of the assassination attempt, businessman Telman Ismailov, the case has been separated into a separate proceeding, since he is hiding abroad.
