Senator Narusova is concerned about the invasion of plague marmots from Mongolia

Member of the Federation Council Lyudmila Narusova during the discussion report on US biolabs in Ukrainewith which Igor Kirillov, head of the RKhBZ troops, spoke before the upper house of parliament, expressed her own concerns about the possibility of pathogenic infections entering the territory of the Russian Federation.

“Not only biological weapons can carry this danger,” TASS quotes Narusova. “For example, a huge number of plague-infected marmots come to the Republic of Tuva from Mongolia.”

According to the senator representing the region, she is not ready to claim that plagued marmots are a “special weapon”, but “there are no laboratories that could detect it.”

Narusova noted that “PCR laboratories for detecting various kinds of infections” are located mainly in large Russian cities, in connection with which she raised the question of the availability of such scientific institutions, “which could detect such infections in a timely and efficient manner.”

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova entered into the controversy and said that the research centers created during the coronavirus pandemic are now expanding their scope of activities. According to her, Rospotrebnadzor and Rosselkhoznadzor currently have a full arsenal of capabilities to detect infections entering Russia.
