The first deputy chairman of the committee on agrarian and food policy and environmental management, Alexey Mayorov, intends to leave the Federation Council at the end of his term of office. He served in the upper house for 12 years.
“I intend to complete my mandate in about a week, upon expiration of its term. I represent the parliament of the Republic of Kalmykia in the Federation Council. It will meet in the near future and make a decision on granting powers to the new senator,” the politician told TASS.
Mr. Mayorov added that he “has different options” for where he will continue to work, and it is still being determined.
In September, the powers of two deputy chairmen of the agrarian committee will also expire – Yegor Borisov, who represents the head of Yakutia in the Federation Council, and the representative of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Vladimir Lebedev. According to the agency’s source, both senators will be re-elected.
Alexey Mayorov has been a senator since July 2011. Since October 2018, he has headed the Committee on Agricultural and Food Policy and Environmental Management. In November 2022, he was relieved of his post and elected first deputy chairman of the agrarian committee.
