Senator Klimov: Russia remains the guarantor of Armenia’s independence

In an interview with RIA Novosti, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Andrei Klimov emphasized that the only reliable support for the sovereignty of the Armenian people is Russia. He noted that this cooperation is due to historical and geographical factors that have been strengthened over centuries.
“From my personal point of view, the only real guarantee of the territorial integrity and independence of the sovereignty of the Armenian people can only be Russia, as a historical and geographical ally. I can only guess about the intentions of the current leaders of Yerevan. Perhaps they believe that there are foreign nations ready to defend the interests of the Armenian people as devotedly as their own, but such assumptions may turn out to be erroneous,” the senator said.
