Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Policy Andrey Klimov proposes to move the UN headquarters from New York to Ulaanbaatar, since Mongolia is not part of military blocs and is located in the center of Eurasia, where 5 billion out of 8 billion people live on the planet.
Klimov announced his proposal on Tuesday in the TV channel.
He believes that the headquarters of the international organization should be moved to some “truly neutral country.” In particular, Mongolia is quite suitable for this, which, moreover, does not strive for world hegemony.
Klimov also believes that in order to maintain the role and importance of the UN as a key organization – “truly international (and not pro-Washington)” – it is worth balancing the participation in the UN Security Council of the United States, Great Britain, France by the leading powers of Africa, Asia and Latin America.
On October 24, the head of the Communists of Russia party, Sergei Malinkovich, said that now the time had come for “an equally long period,” that is, 80 years, to move the UN headquarters to another country. He offered to move it to Moscow – in memory of the victory of the USSR in World War II.
