US Senator Lindsey Graham expressed his dissatisfaction with US President Joe Biden because of his desire not to provoke Russian leader Vladimir Putin regarding Ukraine’s entry into NATO. On Twitter, the politician said he was tired of Biden’s constant emphasis on not provoking Putin, as the Kremlin sees it as a weakness.
Graham noted that the current presidential administration has missed many opportunities to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and take decisive action in support of Kyiv. He also expressed understanding for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s frustration with the Biden administration, Germany and several other countries over the lack of Ukraine’s admission to NATO.
Earlier, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that Ukraine would not become a full member of NATO at the alliance’s summit in Vilnius. The communique of the meeting of NATO member states stated that the future of Ukraine is in the alliance, but Kyiv must fulfill certain conditions.
Zelensky called the lack of a clear time frame for inviting and joining Ukraine to NATO absurd. In his opinion, this state of affairs implies a lack of real readiness to invite Ukraine into the alliance.
