Defense plans
At the Vilnius summit, the Allies also adopted “the most comprehensive defense plans since the end of the Cold War,” Stoltenberg said. They provide for the deployment of 300,000 military personnel “in a high state of readiness”, including air and navy. The existing rapid reaction units on NATO’s eastern flank should be increased to brigade size each. It is also planned to complete the integration of missile defense and air defense systems into a single one for the alliance, to strengthen protection against both cyber threats and conventional modern weapons, including hypersonic and unmanned aerial vehicles.
