Semeru volcano erupts on Indonesian island of Java

On the morning of Sunday, December 4, the eruption of the Semeru volcano began on the Indonesian island of Java. According to media reports, the volcano threw a cloud of ash to a height of about 15 km.
Local authorities urged the inhabitants of the island not to approach the volcano closer than 8 km.
