Sellers in Magnit stores are required to wear masks

Against the backdrop of an increase in the incidence of coronavirus in Russia, the Magnit retail chain has introduced a mandatory mask regime for its staff since August 23.

The mask regime for employees of retail outlets and distribution centers will be valid in all regions where there are Magnit stores. The company will strengthen other anti-epidemiological measures, RBC reports with reference to the press service of Magnit.

“Against the backdrop of an increase in the number of Russians infected with COVID-19, Magnit will increase the frequency of cleaning in stores and logistics complexes, and will continue to disinfect premises, carts, cash registers and other commercial equipment. Customers will be able to use antiseptic dispensers,” the message words of the Deputy General Director of the company Ruslan Ismailov.

Meanwhile, the incidence in the country is indeed growing at a record pace. So, according to information published on the site stopcoronavirus.rf, 4,063 people were hospitalized across the country over the past day. This is not so much when compared with the peak of the pandemic, however, compared to the previous day, the increase was 138.4%.

In total, 30,967 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in Russia over the previous day. Most of the sick in Moscow – 4,997 people, of which 372 people were hospitalized.

The wearing of masks has already been returned in a number of regions, for example, in Buryatia, Gorny Altai, Dagestan, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Tatarstan, Novosibirsk and Vologda regions. And the other day, the department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Irkutsk region recommended the introduction of local mask regimes in medical organizations in the region, social service institutions at trade and catering facilities.

As for the Moscow region, there is no talk of resuming the mask regime yet. Although if the situation with the incidence of coronavirus continues to develop at the same pace, the return of restrictions is not excluded. In the meantime, conscious citizens have returned to wearing masks on their own: people in medical masks have begun to meet in transport, clinics and shops more and more often.

Doctors, on the other hand, recommend vaccinating against coronavirus for those who, for some reason, have not yet done so, and revaccinating those who were vaccinated more than six months ago. Now herd immunity to coronavirus in Russia is at a very low level – according to the data at the beginning of August, it was only 8.6%.
