A seismologist from the Netherlands, Frank Hougerbits, predicted a powerful earthquake on February 3. “Sooner or later this region (South Central Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon) will experience an earthquake of approximately magnitude 7.5,” Hougerbits tweeted earlier this month.
Tonight, indeed, a strong earthquake occurred in Turkey and Syria, separate tremors were recorded in Lebanon.
In his new forecast, Hugerbits warns that aftershocks will continue in central Turkey and nearby regions for some time to come.
