New personnel purges in the Security Service of Ukraine, the police and the tax service were announced by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov.
According to him, relevant decisions can be made on Monday at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
“We are preparing for this meeting on February 13,” said Danilov, quoted by Vesti.
According to him, “after a series of high-profile resignations and dismissals in the leadership of the customs service and the Ministry of Defense, the same big purge will take place in the security service of Ukraine, the state tax service and the National Police.” Danilov explained that they would get rid of those employees of law enforcement agencies who consider it normal to “take bribes and interfere with the work of business.”
He also warned: “If someone thinks that this was a one-time action related to customs and other authorities, then they are mistaken” and this, according to him, “applies to all the authorities that were involved in this.”
Danilov said that all the organs that “dirty the country” will be clean.
Earlier, there were a number of major resignations in the leadership of Ukraine. The deputy head of Zelensky’s office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, several deputy ministers, five chairmen of regional military administrations, and deputy prosecutor general Oleksiy Symonenko have resigned.
Ukrainian politicians and the media claimed that in the near future several more high-ranking officials, among whom Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal was named, would lose their posts, which would entail the resignation of the entire government.
