Duda: Russia can win in Ukraine without urgent help from the West

Russia can win the conflict with Ukraine if the countries supporting Kyiv do not urgently send weapons to Kiev, declared in an interview with Le Figaro newspaper, Polish President Andrzej Duda.
When asked whether “the Russians can win the war,” the head of the Polish state answered in the affirmative.
“Yes, they can, if Ukraine does not urgently receive assistance. They do not have modern military infrastructure, but they have people! If in the coming weeks we do not send military equipment to Ukraine, [президент России Владимир] Putin can win. He can win and we don’t know where he will stop,” Duda said.
Recently, the West has been discussing the possibility of delivering fighter jets to Ukraine, which President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky requested back in March 2022.
On January 26, Politico reported that NATO countries were in internal discussions about the possibility of supplying fighter jets to Kyiv. At the moment, among the ardent supporters of the idea of sending fighters to Ukraine, the Baltic countries are mentioned. In Washington, according to one of Politico’s sources, they told representatives of Kyiv that sending fighter jets “is not possible at the moment.”
On January 30, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, said that Ukraine “has positive signals from Poland” regarding F-16 fighters. Duda then said that the authorities of the country will not transfer fighter jets to Kyiv. Later it also became known that Ukraine sent Request for the supply of F-16 fighter jets to the Netherlands. On February 8, Reuters, citing British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, reported that the Prime Minister’s office announced plans to expand assistance to the Ukrainian armed forces, including the training of fighter pilots and marines.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. In particular, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia. And Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that the supply of long-range weapons would only expand the geography of the special operation.
Earlier, Berlin approved the delivery of 178 Leopard 1 main battle tanks to Kyiv, and on January 25, Germany and the United States announced the delivery of 14 Leopard 2 tanks and 31 M1 Abrams tanks. Deliveries of tanks to Kyiv will not change the situation, but will “add problems” for Ukraine, the Kremlin commented. Later, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that the Leopard and Abrams tanks would burn down in the same way as the rest of Western military equipment.
