Secretary General of the Arab League will visit Moscow

Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) Ahmed Abu al-Gheit went to Moscow on the morning of October 8, where he intends to discuss the aggravation between Israel and Palestine with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. This is stated in the Arab League statement released on social network X.
The head of the organization, as noted, will visit Moscow on a working visit at the invitation of Lavrov. Arab League spokesman Jamal Rushdie said the parties would hold an “extensive discussion” on a number of topics, most notably the ongoing escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Lavrov and al-Ghaith earlier met in September within the framework of the UN General Assembly in New York. Diplomats then discussed interaction between Russia and the Arab League on resolving conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa.
For the second day, Israel has been in a state of military conflict. On the morning of October 7, the Palestinian group Hamas began shelling the country from the Gaza Strip under its control, calling it the military operation “Al-Aqsa Flood”.
The militant attack was a response to Israel’s alleged repeated violations of red lines at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, located on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The group’s militants broke into Israeli territory, establishing temporary control over a number of settlements, where they captured hostages from both military and civilians. Against the backdrop of the conflict, Palestine called for an urgent meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Arab League countries, WAFA reported.
According to the latest data cited by the media, since October 7, 350 Israelis have been killed, 1,864 people injured, and “dozens” of citizens taken hostage in the Gaza Strip.
