Second Indian citizen suspected of having cholera hospitalized in Tambov region

At the place of residence of patients in the hotel of labor migrants in the city of Rasskazovo, anti-epidemic measures are being taken, the necessary laboratory facilities have been deployed with the involvement of a team of specialists from the Rostov Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor. Specialists examined about 400 contacts who were under medical supervision, including laboratory tests and antibiotic prophylaxis.
“For the purpose of prevention, a ban has been established on the use of the Tsna River for recreational purposes: swimming, fishing and the use of water from the river for economic purposes are prohibited. Control over the implementation of temporary restrictive measures has been organized,” the ministry said in a statement.
The major cities of the region Tambov, Kotovsk and Morshansk stand on the Tsna. Rospotrebnadzor has stepped up the disinfection of wastewater treatment plants. 23 water samples have already been taken, as a result of which no deviations from hygienic standards have been identified. Rospotrebnadzor stressed that the situation is under control.
In June, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova statedthat in Russia over the past few years there has been almost no cholera, but there is a risk of importation of the disease by tourists. Half as many countries experienced cholera outbreaks in 2022 as they did in 2021.
