Roskomnadzor ordered search engines to inform users about violations of Russian legislation by 12 foreign hosting providers, including the cloud service Amazon Web Services, should from a message from the department’s press service.

We are talking about organizations that Roskomnadzor in June turned on to the list of companies subject to landing. In addition to Amazon Web Services, Hetzner Online GmbH (hetzner.com), Network Solutions, LLC (networksolutions.com), WPEngine, Inc. were added to the list. (wpengine.com), HostGator.com, LLC (hostgator.com), Ionos Inc. (ionos.com), DreamHost, LLC (dreamhost.com), FastComet, Inc. (fastcomet.com), DigitalOcean, LLC (digitalocean.com), Kamatera Inc. (kamatera.com), Bluehost Inc. (bluehost.com) and GoDaddy.com LLC (godaddy.com).

The department clarified that the companies did not comply with the law: they did not register a personal account on the Roskomnadzor website, did not create an authorized representative office in Russia, and did not organize a feedback form for Russian users. Search engines will flag organizations as violators until they comply with these obligations.

Earlier, the director of the Internet Research Institute, Karen Kazaryan, noted that the companies included in the list are not currently conducting any active activities in Russia and have no particular interest in working in Russia, so any changes are unlikely to follow.
