An X3.3 flare occurred on the Sun on February 9
The Laboratory of Solar X-ray Astronomy of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the SB RAS reported: on February 9, at about 16.00 Moscow time, a flare of high magnitude X3.3 occurred on the Sun.
It, as specified, lasted from 15.53 to 16.32, reaching a peak at 16.14.
Solar flares, as noted, can cause magnetic storms on Earth. They, in turn, cause disruptions in the operation of energy systems, and also affect the migration routes of birds and animals.
In this case, a magnetic storm is not predicted.
The largest solar flare since 2017 was recorded by scientists on New Year’s Eve – January 1, 2024. She was then assigned a score of X5.0.
