Scientists have improved the standard of measurement of information

Perhaps this is not the final version yet – the standard needs constant improvements.

The standard for measuring information transmitted via the Internet and via mobile communications was improved by Solnechnogorsk scientists. Specialists of the All-Russian Research Institute of Physical, Technical and Radio Engineering Measurements of Rosstandart managed to achieve unparalleled accuracy in establishing this value.

The standard, which takes into account the volume of telecommunication services in the transmission of digital information, was created at the same institute back in 2012. It is a file server containing a set of 25 files of reference volumes of digital information in the range from 1 byte to 1 TB. With it, you can measure any amount of information that is uploaded to Internet resources, detect the slightest leak or determine the delay of data packets, compare and contrast the transfer time of a certain amount of data from one device to another. The standard has become indispensable when checking the integrity of digital information files. The scientists of the institute specified that, unlike the standards of other units of measurement, the same meter or gram, this standard for the quality of an Internet connection needs constant improvement, because generations of mobile communications replace each other. And the new version of this unit of measure is perhaps not the final version yet. Having improved the standard, experts expanded its database.
