Scientists conducted a study that dealt with the effect of lack of sleep on the human body. Experts from the Icahn School of Medicine were able to find out that lack of sleep has an extremely negative effect on the immune system. It can also cause the destruction of the DNA structure in cells. Science Daily reports.
The experiment took place over six weeks, in which 14 people took part. Each of them slept for eight hours, and then each week reduced the time of sleep. At all stages of the experiment, the results were recorded, and the participants were tested.
As a result, after the experiment, it turned out that lack of sleep has a negative effect on the immune system, disrupting the structure of cells. Scientists have found that lack of sleep can develop into inflammatory processes.
