Scientists have explained the love of cats to catnip

Zoologists in Japan have suggested that cats like catnip because it repels mosquitoes and other insects.
Catnip, as well as a plant called anemone polygamus, contains nepetalactol. It is safe for cats, who love to rub against each of these two plants, as well as roll around in their thickets.
It is assumed that the data of a scientific article published in the journal cience Advances will allow, among other things, to develop new repellents based on nepetalactol.
