Recently, another phobia was added to this collection. American scientists have found that cleaning powders poison the brain. And the cleaner the housewife, the more likely she is to get multiple sclerosis in old age. If children are involved in cleaning, then minors may develop autism.

Scientists from Kees Western Reserve University decided to check the arsenal of housewives. They carefully examined more than 1,800 types of powders, capsules, gels, and solutions that are sold in local stores. The conclusions were not long in coming. It turned out that almost 20 percent of household chemicals are harmful to brain cells and the central nervous system.

But scientists did not stop at this conclusion. They tested the connection between poisons from cleaning products and various autoimmune, neurological and psychiatric diseases. It turned out that the dangerous substances that make up the “magic” household chemicals can cause at least ten illnesses. Among them, the most obvious and probable are multiple sclerosis and autism.

– Older adults are most at risk of getting sick. A mature organism has powerful levers to resist substances. But still, dangerous elements accumulate in the cells of tissues and bones. Over time, they enter the brain and cause irreversible changes, said one of the researchers.

As for children, their young bodies are more susceptible to the effects of negative chemicals. The poisons affect their nerve cells as well as the developing brain. Hence the likelihood of getting various forms of autism.

Scientists published the results of the study in the authoritative journal Nature Neuroscience.

– What can we do, we live in a world of household chemicals. This applies not only to cleaning products, but also to shampoos, cosmetics, and decorative varnishes. Surfactants included in shampoos can cause anaphylactic shock, and multi-colored varnish is not only toxic, it also contains a lot of heavy metals. This is the same problem with all cosmetics. But it is difficult to imagine a world without household chemicals. Therefore, I do not encourage you to give it up and blush your cheeks with beets. But from time to time I advise you to do a kind of detox. Instead of descaling, for example, use lemon, and instead of chlorine-based cleaning powders, use regular soda. Now the spring window cleaning season is approaching. Instead of aggressive aerosols, you can perfectly clean glass with alcohol, vinegar or chalk.
