Scientists have discovered why insects hit lamps in the dark

British biologists: insects fly into artificial light because it interferes with orientation
Biologists from the UK, Costa Rica and the USA came to the conclusion that insects fly up to artificial light sources at night, cannot fly away from them and fall next to the lamps, since they interfere with their ability to navigate in space and regulate the tilt of their own body.
Experiments have shown that under natural conditions, insects perceive the sky as “up,” but next to artificial light sources they lean toward them or fall when they find themselves directly above them.
The version that animals are attracted not by light, but by the heat from the lamps has already been refuted.
