Blue-eyed people see better in dim light than brown-eyed people, say scientists from Liverpool

Scientists from Liverpool John Moores University compared how well people with blue and brown eyes see in the dark. The experiment involved 40 volunteers of European origin aged 18 to 30 years.

Participants were intolerant of laser vision correction and some wore glasses or contact lenses.

Volunteers read codes on LEDs of varying brightness. Blue-eyed participants were, on average, better able to read labels on dim LEDs. Glasses and contact lenses did not significantly affect the results.
