Scientists from Russia are awarded in the USA for research of intestines and orgsynthesis

At the University of La Verne (California), scientists from Russia Igor Alabugin and Alexandra Zhernakova were awarded the Georgy Gamow Prize. The award was held within the framework of the conference of the Russian-American Association of Scientists (RASA-America).
Igor Alabugin is a professor at the University of Florida, he was awarded for the development of fine organic synthesis. The jury also evaluated the research of the professor of the University of Greeningen (Netherlands) Alexandra Zhernakova in the field of intestinal microbiome and viriome as a factor in aging and the development of diseases.
The Gamow Prizes have been awarded since 2015 to members of the Russian-speaking scientific diaspora for outstanding achievements recognized by the broad scientific community. The Prize was established in memory of the Soviet and American theoretical physicist, author of works on nuclear physics, quantum mechanics, biology and astrophysics. Georgy Gamov was elected to the Academy of Sciences both in the USSR and later in the USA.
