Scientists find caffeine helps runners get faster

Caffeine can make athletes run 100 meters faster. This conclusion was made by scientists at Ritsumeikan University, the study was published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise.
The study involved 13 male athletes. Scientists have found out the time it takes the participants to reach the maximum concentration of caffeine in the blood. Then the athletes ran a hundred meters. In one case, they were given caffeine before the race; in the other, they were given a placebo.
It turned out that, on average, athletes who took caffeine ran faster by 0.14 seconds. They usually accelerated in the first 60 meters of the sprint.
At the same time, World Athletics previously recognized caffeine as an ergogenic agent. But this applies to data obtained in other anaerobic sports, and not in the 100-meter run.
