Psychologists: active music increases productivity

Scientists from New York University tested how certain music affects people’s productivity. As it turned out, active compositions increase productivity.

Psychologists invited volunteers to participate in the experiment, some of whom listened to “calming” melodies, and others to “invigorating” ones. At the same time, participants solved certain problems. The researchers monitored how well the volunteers performed on the task and collected information to gauge their level of arousal.

“Upbeat” music improved productivity, scientists reported in the IEEE Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Biology.
