Science festival NAUKA 0+ was held in Moscow

Expocentre on Krasnaya Presnya hosted a large-scale scientific exhibition as part of one of the world’s largest educational projects, Science 0+.

Science Festival NAUKA 0+ is a celebration of science and scientists who have the opportunity to tell the society about the achievements and thus contribute to its education. The event includes exhibitions, lectures, master classes and many other interesting events that provide an opportunity to get an idea of ​​the direction in which scientific research is developing.

The NAUKA 0+ festival is one of the largest popular science projects in the world, the goals and objectives of which are 100% the same as the goals of the Year of Science and Technology. The festival is organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, the Government of Moscow, Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Russian Academy of Sciences. The festival is one of the world’s largest social and educational projects in the field of popularization of science, a key event within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology. The festival takes place annually from October to November in 80 regions of our country at more than 400 venues. It will present a variety of areas that determine the development of our country and the world as a whole.

This year in Moscow, the science festival was held at four main central venues: the Intellectual Center – the Fundamental Library of Moscow State University, the Expocentre Central Exhibition Complex, Zaryadye Park and the Russian Academy of Sciences. The central regional venues of the All-Russian Science Festival this year are Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Vladivostok and Sochi. “The festival is being held for the seventeenth time, and over the entire period of its existence, tens of millions of people have taken part in educational projects,” said Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, “the main idea of ​​the current Science 0+ forum.

The name of the holiday of geniuses and talents speaks for itself: you can comprehend new things, make discoveries and implement inventions at any age. Among the participants there are famous scientists and ordinary schoolchildren – it is these guys who will pick up the scientific baton and will change our world, like, for example, students of the famous metropolitan school 1596 “Constellation”. Fifth-grader Kira Gaponova presents an interesting invention, which she called “Rainbow in a box”. The girl, using scientific terms very competently, said that her work would help to see the rainbow in artificial conditions, study it in the classroom and simply cheer up from the contemplation of beauty. Misha Kirelchuk is a year older, he is in the 6th grade, his job is a smart car that does not crash into obstacles. It’s nice that the parents helped the schoolchildren, supporting the children’s passion for science. In general, the science festival is a very interesting event for children. The most complex things are spoken in simple language, so that future scientists can understand.

And at the festival sites, universities, museums and other organizations present themselves and offer various scientific master classes for children and teenagers: experiments in chemistry, the release of fossils, the creation of robots from a constructor, simulators for laparoscopy and ultrasound, modeling. The festival included popular science exhibitions, exciting science shows, discussions about the future of humanity, documentaries about scientists and their research, robot competitions, as well as various science fights, quests and quizzes. In the virtual hypermuseum of science, it was possible to examine scientific phenomena in detail – from a black hole to a coronavirus.

Everyone was able to attend public lectures by Nobel laureates and other well-known scientists, which were devoted to the topics of the Year of Science: new medicine, space exploration, new challenges and threats/security, territorial connectivity and space exploration, climate and ecology, genetics and quality of life, artificial intelligence , man and society.

The exposition of the Moscow NAUKA 0+ festival at the Expocentre on Krasnaya Presnya has become the largest popular science platform in terms of the number of activities. On 6,000 square meters, more than 100 participants from all over the country presented their innovative developments dedicated to the role of science in the development of our planet, artificial intelligence, Arctic exploration, space and ocean exploration. The exposition was divided into four modules on the topics – “Ecology”, “Biosphere”, “Technosphere” and “Space”. The central place was allocated to the exhibition “Planet – Creating the Future”. The participants presented their know-how, the wide use of which will soon come into our life, and most of them are purely domestic developments. So far, these are demonstration samples created to explain to everyone the principle of operation. According to the rector of Moscow State University, Academician Viktor Sadovnichy, the popularization of science is an important part of the festival. “In terms of scale, this is certainly one of the largest popular science projects in the world. Its program includes a huge variety of exciting events — up to 10,000 — for the widest audience across the country: a golden lecture hall with leading scientists, interactive exhibitions, science shows, robot competitions, science fights, and much, much more,” Viktor Sadovnichy said.

The festival contributes to the integration of education, science and production: it helps to reveal the creative potential of young people, motivates students to engage in various types of technical creativity, reveals talented youth and demonstrates the achievements of students in various fields of scientific and technical creativity. The festival is also designed to support talented youth in building an individual educational trajectory in the context of integrating education, science, and production. The event of an all-Russian scale traditionally took place at a very high level – both conceptually and in terms of organization.
