The Victory Museum has opened the exhibition “Spark of Hope”, which is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the breaking of the siege of Leningrad.
Visitors to the exposition will learn about how the unique military operation “Iskra” was carried out to break the blockade of Leningrad, see the schemes of the course of hostilities of the Leningrad and Volkhov fronts in the winter of 1943, get acquainted with unique exhibits, in particular the personal belongings of the participants in the operation, their weapons and awards, photographs made during the operation, drawings by front-line artists, books and dictionaries, according to which the inhabitants of besieged Leningrad studied, dishes. The exposition also includes personal belongings of the leaders and participants of the Iskra operation – Marshals Leonid Govorov, Kirill Meretskov and Georgy Zhukov, Colonel General of the Engineering Troops Arkady Khrenov.According to the organizers of the exhibition, it will undoubtedly be of interest to schoolchildren, and history teachers within the framework of the Lesson in the Museum project will be able to use its material to conduct lessons on the events of the Great Patriotic War.
The exhibition will run until February 18.
