“School set” fell sharply before September 1

Lately, we’ve only been talking about sets – borscht set, schoolchildren’s set… Retailers took it literally. The peep of the season is a ready-made school set by September 1. In stores, prices for all student enticing are reduced. And large online sites also committed “Black Friday”, and there are seven “Fridays” in a week. “MK” tried to figure out if the “school set” is so beneficial. And how much does it actually cost to prepare a child for school less than two weeks before the start of Knowledge Day.

Here, for example, is a school set for a first grader, which can be ordered in an online store. Almost 80 items – less than 1500 rubles. Looks like a lot and to the point. Pens, paper, paints, scissors, folders… There is even a cover for a school magnetic card, which gets lost all the time. And everything else comes with a satchel. It would seem super mega profitable.

However, field trials on children showed that “I don’t want it, I won’t.” The folders are pink, for girls, and not at all fashionable. “Who cares about this pony and raccoon now?” – Looking at the picture, a girl of 8 years old asked in bewilderment. The satchel in the set is boyish. With amongs, for the current rapidly growing generation of seven-year-olds, this is not yesterday, but even the day before yesterday. Now hagi-vagi and kissi-missy are in fashion, who do not know. Monsters with creepy smiles from the current computer shooter are littered with all the trays. And a backpack with them alone, without a set, will immediately pull on 2-3 thousand. Or, yori natsuki. If you decide that this is a curse, ask the child, he will explain the meaning of the words.

– I would still advise you to take a similar cheap set, only without a backpack, for the 1st grade, – says Svetlana, a Muscovite, mother of three children. – It’s just that when a child goes to school for the first time, you take a lot of extra things. In our family, even a bike goes around – the first one was collected in the 1st grade, two backpacks were torn. And the third one, somehow, two days before the start of classes, they went and bought a pen. So if you are a rookie parent, play it safe and buy extra.

However, goods for middle and high school students have noticeably become fashionable. For example, a sketchbook, a tablet-substrate and a set of colored pencils for those who like to draw at recess. Naturally, with cats. Cats and llamas, if you didn’t know, this is a hit. And the recently fashionable avocado is now crimson… But there is also a representative product, for example, a handle with massive gilding topped with a double-headed eagle. Such nostalgia is now also in trend.

– I went on the Internet, I lament – why did they buy everything at the beginning of summer, – Ivan, the father of a newly-minted sixth grader, complains. – We heard enough about the general rise in prices, we outwitted ourselves. And this is all bam! – and cheaper. Everything fell: stationery, notebooks … Even printer paper stopped costing like an airplane wing and almost returned to its original cost.

And indeed. A pack of the most popular A4 paper, without which no project work can be completed by a schoolboy, costs around 300 rubles. Almost like before.

Closer to graduation classes, especially for girls, the topic of appearance, clothes, cosmetics and shoes comes to the fore. Although for all other ages, “bow” is relevant. The school uniform, who has it, is very different in price. But if the uniform is made of more or less natural fabrics, then it will be no cheaper than 3 thousand for a dress or sundress and 4 for a suit for a boy. Of course, there is also a very cheap form at sales or special promotions.

– Yes, yesterday I went to a large hypermarket, there is a whole department dressed up, there is a “holiday jacket” for 400 rubles, – says Oksana, mother of two children. – I felt it … No, it seems to me that if you don’t want to spend too much, you need to choose a quality option in the middle price position. So that the composition of the fabric is at least 70% “nature”: cotton, wool or viscose. This form will withstand many washes, and perhaps the child brings it to the end of the year. It will also go to the younger one.

Schools that do not have uniforms have a dress code. However, you can wear sneakers and jeans – in middle and high school for sure. Experienced parents advise: in order to save on an outfit for a teenager, the first thing to do is to discuss all purchases with him. It’s best to go to the store together. For, no matter how good and progressive the taste of an adult is, the child will still not wear half of what you bought, money down the drain.

Tip number two is not to shy away from secondhand, especially now that the prices of things with labels have risen and brands have left due to sanctions. There are several chains in Moscow where buying “secondhand” is not at all disgusting, there are many new things with tags, you can only take them. And if the soul does not lie at all in such trade, there are also stocks and outlets in the capital and the region.

It makes no sense to buy shoes for 20 thousand for a rapidly growing child. But cheap oilcloth is not good either. So, perhaps, shoes are the biggest item of school expense – you need street shoes for the season, a school shift, sneakers or sneakers for physical education … Fortunately, friendly China, for example, has learned to produce pretty decent brands. But here, how and on what to spend money, everyone decides for himself.

Plastic wrappers for textbooks can become scarce items for all classes – for some reason they are not produced in the same formats as textbooks. Therefore, if you find the right size, take it without hesitation. Good general notebooks, especially on springs, should also be taken in stock, they are not available everywhere. But, in principle, there is no paper shortage, including for workbooks for subjects, collections and manuals, in stores.

But about the school backpack for this year, there is non-trivial advice – look for a backpack with Cheburashka. This will be an ironic statement by a child on a fashionable topic (a full-length film about the hero Uspensky is the expected film premiere of the year). And it also falls into the trend for everything Russian.
