German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he was proud that Germany would soon be able to become independent of Russian gas. According to him, for this purpose they asked other suppliers in the form of Norway and the Netherlands to expand their capacities.
In addition, in January 2023, the first terminal for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG) should operate in Germany.
“And we thought about how to ensure the supply of liquefied gas by ships to the North German coast, which can then be pumped into gas storage facilities through the German pipeline,” Scholz said.
The Chancellor added that at the end of 2023, Germany will be able to import LNG at four ports: Wilhelmshaven, Brunsbrüttel, Stade and Lubmin.
“Who would have thought about it, that this country could achieve this in such a short time. I am very proud of this,” concluded Scholz.
