Banks of Uzbekistan have complicated the opening of accounts and cards for Russians

Since September 12, a number of commercial banks in Uzbekistan have introduced restrictions on the opening of accounts and bank cards by foreigners, RIA Novosti reports.
So the local “Kapitalbank” reported that non-residents of the republic can open bank accounts only if they have spent more than 15 calendar days continuously in the country before contacting the bank.
This requirement does not apply to foreign students and those who officially work in the country. For citizens of Uzbekistan, the conditions for opening accounts and deposits remain unchanged.
In turn, Ipak Yuli Bank opens accounts and cards for non-residents only in the operational department at the head office of the bank.
As participants of the financial market of Uzbekistan told the agency, several more commercial banks of the republic introduced restrictions on non-residents.
Earlier, trips to nearby countries to issue VISA and Mastercard payment systems cards became popular among Russians. These systems joined the sanctions against Russia by banning transactions with cards of Russian banks outside the Russian Federation.
