German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, during a trip to Cottbus, decided not to visit farmers participating in protests against cuts in agricultural subsidies. Bild writes about this on Thursday, January 12.
According to the newspaper, the politician refused to speak at a demonstration of farmers in front of the carriage repair plant, which was officially opened in the presence of the chancellor. During this ceremony, hundreds of farmers gathered near the plant building, trying to disrupt Scholz’s speech with loud noise.
However, the head of the federal government did not dare to address the protesters. This part had to be done by the head of the Brandenburg Cabinet, Dietmar Woidke.
Previously, in a survey conducted by the Yougov Institute, almost every fifth respondent (19%) said that in one way or another suffered from blockades, rallies and tractor marches German farmers protesting against the federal government’s planned subsidy cuts. Workers of the German agricultural industry remind the authorities that you should not bite the hand that feeds you.
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev noted that the German authorities “have run out of subsidies, and the astronomical amounts spent on Ukraine are still growing.” The politician warned that this threatens Berlin with a Maidan, and also doubted that “Scholz liverwurst will stand”.
