Demands to supply submarines and military aircraft to Kyiv only harm the unity of NATO, and Berlin will not take part in these discussions, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on the eve of the Council of the European Union.
According to him, public competition over who will demand more – tanks, submarines, aircraft harm the unity of the alliance. Also, according to Scholz, loud domestic political statements, as well as public criticism of allies and partners, are harmful.
“Every dissonance and speculation about a possible difference of opinion,” Scholz said in a speech to the Bundestag, “only benefits (Russian President Vladimir) Putin.”
On the eve of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk demanded that the FRG supply Kyiv with fighter jets, ships and submarines.
