German Chancellor Olaf Scholz urged the European Union not to be afraid of a “show of force” from Russia. About this he declared during a speech in the European Parliament, which was broadcast by the N-TV channel.
“[Президент РФ Владимир] Putin holds a parade with soldiers, tanks and missiles. We should not be intimidated by such a show of force. We must remain true to our support for Ukraine for as long as it takes,” the chancellor said.
Scholz also noted that the message “of this May 9 should not be what comes from Moscow,” but should mean that “the past cannot triumph over the future.”
Today at the Victory Parade in Moscow, Putin declaredthat a war has been unleashed against Russia again, but the country has rebuffed international terrorism, it will protect the inhabitants of Donbass and ensure its own security.
At the same time, he noted that the country does not have “unfriendly, hostile peoples either in the West or in the East,” and Russia wants to see a peaceful, free and stable future.
More than 10,000 military personnel, including participants in the special operation, as well as 120 pieces of weapons and military equipment, took part in the Victory Parade this year. Like last year, the Victory Parade was held without an air unit.
Presidents of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived at the parade in Moscow.
