“Scary to horror”: American hockey player spoke about visiting Russia

American ex-defender of “Torpedo” Weidman spoke about his impressions of the first visit to Moscow: “It’s scary to the point of horror”

Former defender of HC Torpedo, American hockey player Chris Weidman spoke about his first impressions of Russia on the Cam & Strick podcast, admitting that he was shocked.

According to Wideman, when he first arrived in Moscow, he was in shock. He noted that Sheremetyevo Airport is the size of a small city, and “complete chaos” was going on in it. As the athlete noted, after arriving he went to the border control, where they saw that he was an American, and they took him to a separate room. The hockey player added that he was kept there for two hours and he was “terrified to the point of horror.” He clarified that the phone was not working, his passport was taken from him, and he had not yet received his luggage, admitting that he could be robbed.

Ultimately, as Wideman noted, everything was fine, he was allowed through the border and given his luggage. The hockey player said that he was brought to the hotel, it was dark on the street, and it was far from the city center. He admits that he then wondered if there was anything at all. After the athlete woke up a few hours later, he opened the curtains and wondered about “what he signed up for.”
