Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conduct searches on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, reports the edition “Strana.ua”.
“The SBU came with searches to the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. There is no official confirmation yet.” noted in a message in the Telegram channel.
According to the publication, the SBU previously excited a criminal case due to the performance of a song about “Mother Rus'” in the premises of the Lavra. According to investigators, on that day, during the service, “theses of a propaganda nature were heard that praise the“ Russian world ”.
Viceroy of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra later Pavel informedthat the priest Zachary, during whose divine service the song “The ringing floats, floats over Russia”, was suspended from worship.
The Orthodox Church in Ukraine is represented by two organizations: the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). The OCU was formed in 2018 as a result of the merger of the self-proclaimed UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
The Russian Orthodox Church did not recognize its creation, but the tomos of autocephaly was signed in 2019 by Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople. At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law on the change of subordination of Ukrainian parishes, which regulates the transition of the church community from the jurisdiction of one church to another – dozens of parishes, mainly in the west of the country, moved to the OCU.
At the end of May, the Cathedral of the UOC declared about “complete independence and independence” from the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church against the backdrop of a special operation in Ukraine.
