The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducts searches at the facilities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in Cherkasy and Volyn regions. The SBU announced this on its Telegram channel.
It is reported that SBU officers “together with the National Police and the National Guard” are carrying out “counterintelligence activities.”
Searches are also taking place in the Kherson region.
The SBU noted that we are talking about churches, cathedrals, monasteries, as well as administrative buildings of dioceses, the diocesan library and Sunday school.
Earlier, the Mgarsky Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery in the Poltava region was subjected to searches. Its goals were “countering the subversive activities of the Russian special services”, as well as protecting the population from provocations. A search is also underway for persons involved in such activities.
