The court arrested the property of the wife of Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk Oksana Marchenko in the amount of more than 440 million hryvnias (about $12 million), reported in the Telegram channel of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

As clarified by the SBU, the court seized 6.8% of the shares of the Dneprospetsstal electrometallurgical plant named after. A. M. Kuzmin in Zaporozhye, which produces more than a thousand types of steel. Marchenko owns shares through three offshore companies, the report said.

The SBU added that the seizure of assets “will protect them from being re-registered as nominees” and will later allow them to be transferred in favor of Ukraine. It is specified that the assets were arrested in the framework of the case on the financing of actions in order to change the constitutional order or the borders of the country.

In early February, the SBU accused Marchenko in the “financing” of the National Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. According to the SBU, Marchenko is the ultimate beneficiary of a network of Kyiv companies and an enterprise in Yalta, which “transferred millions of dollars” to the accounts of the Russian Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for “protecting Medvedchuk’s real estate” on the peninsula.

February 23 SBU arrested Marchenko’s assets totaling about $152.4 million. In particular, a 14% stake in two oblenergos and more than 4% in another one, which she owns through five offshore companies, were arrested. In addition, two land plots, four residential buildings in Kyiv and Crimea, as well as 10 cars of Medvedchuk’s wife were arrested. At the same time, assets were seized in 18 investment, agro-industrial, telecommunications and other enterprises, which, according to the SBU, it used “for subversive activities against Ukraine.”

Oksana Marchenko is the wife of Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk. Since 2018, he has headed the political council of the Ukrainian party Opposition Platform – For Life (OPPL, activity was suspended in March 2022 by the country’s authorities due to “ties” with Russia). In April 2022, the SBU announced the detention of Medvedchuk, and already on September 22, the acting head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said that Medvechuk and 55 other people were released as a result of an exchange with the Ukrainian side.
