President Vladimir Putin discussed with the head of the Ministry of Transport Vitaly Savelyev, the work of the transport complex during the summer holidays. The protection of the Crimean bridge will be strengthened before the holiday season, the minister said at the meeting.
“On the Crimean bridge, the situation has now stabilized, we are monitoring the situation on a daily basis, we have four ferries, six car ferries and two rail ferries … traffic on the bridge is organized in a normal mode, we provide 100 percent inspection of all vehicles that pass over the bridge,” Mr. Savelyev said about the situation with the Crimean bridge.
“Eight parking lots have been organized where cars can be temporarily kept while waiting for a ferry crossing … therefore, we do not see any problems so far, we believe that while traffic is going on as usual,” Vitaly Savelyev told the president.
“We will now increase the staff, including security, when we prepare for the summer season, when the vacation period starts, the car traffic will increase,” he noted and confirmed that it is planned to transport 3 million tourists to Crimea during the summer holidays.
“In the direction of the Crimean peninsula … we are going to provide 3 million passengers from May 1 to September 30,” the minister said.
On March 25, the summer season on inland waterways will begin, he recalled. This season, according to Mr. Savelyev, it is planned to transport 9.5 million passengers by water transport.
The head of the Ministry of Transport also spoke about air transportation. “This year we plan to transport … 101.3 million passengers. As of today, for March, we have already transported 13.8 million passengers, which is 416 thousand passengers more than the plan that we took for the year,”— informed He.
