Saudi Arabia launches archaeological research at King Khalid Royal Wildlife Refuge

Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed of the Royal Reserve of Saudi Arabia launched a project to research and document cultural sites for the protection, restoration and development of national heritage within the Royal Reserve of King Khalid within a month.
The project was launched in cooperation with the Heritage Commission and in pursuance of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties, the Saudi Press Agency said.
The SPA said in a statement that a team of scientific experts has been formed to begin research, document antiquities and heritage, and begin surveys of archaeological areas within the King Khalid Royal Reserve.
More than 200 sites have been explored so far.
The authorities have confirmed that the King Khalid Royal Reserve is a heritage site that includes a number of archaeological sites, rock art, stone structures and a number of historic palaces.
The project aims to document, protect and develop the national heritage and raise awareness about it.
