Saratov Regional Electoral Committee withdrew the Yabloko list from the elections to the Legislative Assembly

The Electoral Commission of the Saratov region recognized the list of the Yabloko party nominated to the regional legislative assembly as “lost the status of candidates”. The decision was made at a meeting of the commission today, August 2.
According to the regional election commission, the reason for removing the list of 19 candidates from the elections was the failure of Yabloko to submit to the commission the package of documents necessary for this, including signatures in support of the nomination. Yabloko did not propose candidates in single-mandate constituencies. Thus, this year the party will not participate in the elections to the Saratov Legislative Assembly.
The chairman of the regional branch of Yabloko, Alexander Soshnikov, reminded Kommersant that in order to register a party list, it was necessary to collect about 9.5 thousand signatures. “We had 12 days for this (from July 15 to 27.— “b”). We managed to recruit a pretty decent team of assemblers, and they worked, and all of us, with great enthusiasm. We missed a few days. Unfortunately, the electoral legislation establishes such rules of the game when, even working hard, it is not possible to fulfill its requirements, ”said the party member.
According to him, on July 27, the election commission informed him that they found inconsistencies in the data of candidates in the party list. “We can say that no matter what the outcome of the collection of signatures, the electoral commission would probably not have registered our list, finding fault with the marriage either in signatures or in the list of candidates,” Mr. Soshnikov explained.
Previously, the list of “Yabloko” was not admitted to the elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Sakhalin Region due to complaints about the procedure for nominating candidates. The party did not take part in other elections to regional parliaments this year.
