— Dear Santa Claus, we really hope that you came to us today with good news. But first of all I want to ask you: how did you get there? Today we have cyclone “Vanya” outside our window, the roads are covered with snow.

– “Vanyushka” is my friend. Will he be plotting something against Grandfather? And it’s so beautiful in Moscow. When we got there, I saw a lot of people with shovels. Well done Muscovites, well done to the authorities, I praise you. And I am confident that we will cope with all difficulties. And the snow – it will lie today, melt tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow it will fall again, and we will enjoy skiing.

– Well, in December “Vanya” will still fly to us so that we can have the same magical snow on New Year’s Eve?

– He has many other names. There is also Mother Metelitsa, she is such a mischief to me! She can sprinkle some snow at any time, so there will be more snow.

– Tell me, Grandfather, how did you start your day today? What did you have for breakfast? How long did it take to come to us?

— My breakfast is simple: I drank tea with cloudberries and jam. I love simple, tasty jam. Well, some bread and butter, some salad.

– Let’s discuss the passing year. What was he like for you? Still, did you notice more good or did evil still come from time to time?

“The evil doesn’t give up, we have to fight a lot, all year round.” But I think that this year people began to change a little. I noticed this.

– For good or bad?

– How can I tell you, my friends? Good! They started to unite. Misfortunes, troubles – they always unite. And troubles surround us everywhere. It also seems to me that children have become more mischievous. Year by year it gets more mischievous and mischievous, everyone strives to look under my fur coat and find out: where, Grandpa, are your batteries? I say: what batteries? Everything is real.

– Do you think it’s possible for our world to consist only of good? For evil to go away altogether?

— When skiers go out on a route, they have a calm, green track, and there is a black one, where you need to know well how to control one or another tool: poles, skis. And be able to do it competently and beautifully. This is how nature works: in order for a person not to relax, we are always given some tasks from above that we solve. As one of my friends said: why do we jump so high? Because we get a strong kick from below. You have to think with your own head and anticipate some moments, and then life will be easier.

– What are you doing now? How many things are left to complete before the end of the year?

– And my work never ends. Because letters come every year. A lot: thousands, tens, hundreds of thousands of letters from everywhere. Sometimes they write to the patrimony, sometimes to the capital, sometimes to the village, to Grandfather, or to Moscow, or some other city they choose. The most important thing is that both children and adults understand that Grandfather is not the final authority, but our parents, our loved ones. Those who help us, whom you truly trust. Who do you trust? Do you trust housing maintenance organizations? No? Well, you need to make friends with them. That’s why I threw down the snowball to test how prepared they were. And so I have a lot to do: the estate is being upset, it’s becoming more and more beautiful. Last year we carried out an upgrade, built new towers, a souvenir tower, and a tower of magic – a post office. Now I have the largest mailbox building in the world. The guys there are happy to meet my granddaughter and gain new knowledge. I don’t just entertain. The most important thing is the educational process. So that people do not forget the past of their country, their ancestors, their history. It is very important that a person communicates with other people more often. Therefore, I am in favor of everyone visiting more often.

— Interesting, do you play sports? Still, the age is already respectable…

– Certainly. Not only skiing, I also play football.

– In a fur coat?

— I’m taking off my fur coat. I was once asked a question: Grandfather, do you wash your beard every time? I say: mine. And then what about the beard? She’s wet. And then it dries.

– Then you probably curl your curls and cover them with hairspray…

– No, she herself. I don’t use any artificial cosmetics, everything is natural. And I advise you.

— The year of the Green Wood Dragon is coming. They say that this Dragon loves independent and determined people. Tell us, what can we expect from this year? Should we hope for the best?

— To be honest, I’m not a big supporter of the eastern calendar. I am a supporter of the Slavic horoscope. I hope many will google and ask what the Slavic horoscope is.

— According to the Slavic calendar, we have Dark Elk. But again the Dark One.

– So what? He’s big and strong and he can handle anything. We also have Lute – this is a wolf, we have Mizgir – this is a spider, we have a soaring Eagle. This is much better than any monkey in the eastern calendar, which in our country lives only in enclosures. And this is our history, this is our nature.

— Now, when children come to you with requests, are they still more materialistic? Or do they also ask for miracles?

— What I like most about letters from children is that they began to ask me and my loved ones for health. Probably, the troubles that befell Mother Earth also affected them. Children are a little litmus test. And it is very important that they are not biased and suppressed by their parents. We need to give them more opportunities to open up, without putting pressure on them. And then they will help us act in a more correct way in a given situation.

— Were there any requests that you could not fulfill for some reason? Children’s, I mean.

– Children’s? There are such. It’s not that he couldn’t, but he didn’t. Somehow they asked me for a horse. But you need to know how to care for a horse, it’s a friend. Maybe it’s better to go to the equestrian section, work out first, and then write? And I’ll help you, tell you what harness to choose and how to care for it. A lot of people ask for cats. Even the year before or last year, I don’t remember, I gave a girl a cat, in Nizhny Novgorod, as I remember now. But I believe that a friend cannot be bought. You can meet him. He will decide for himself whether you are his friend or not.

— Do you think that Santa Claus is a calling?

— For as long as I can remember, I have always been a Grandfather. So I think that yes, this is probably a calling. But sometimes I trust good guys, dads, grandfathers, neighbors to put on a fur coat – I delegate my rights. I don’t have time everywhere.

— By the way, do children write letters to you from other countries?

– Of course they write. I am always open to everyone and enjoy maintaining relationships.

— You don’t manage social networks yourself?

– Why? I have my assistants, then I myself look through something with pleasure. This needs to be done. If you do not know how to use all the benefits of mass communication, you are not a modern person.

— Do you like to read books?

– Certainly. I love reading classics and fairy tales. It is no coincidence that a fairy tale trail appeared in my capital residence, where various fairy tales live: “The Twelve Months”, and “The Nutcracker”, and “Alice in Wonderland”, and “Oorfene Deuce and His Wooden Soldiers”. I read both poems and fairy tales. In general, I don’t really like it when my fellow assistants start communicating in poetry. Poems are a capacious opportunity to beautifully express your thoughts. But I believe that many good books are written in prose. What am I reading now? I forgot about one wonderful actress…

— You probably raised your granddaughter on books?

– Yes, sure. My granddaughter is nice; unlike me, she loves poetry. And when they ask me: Grandfather, read something, I say: “Once in the cold winter I came out of the forest… and went back in again…” That’s all.

— What needs to be done before the end of the year so that next year we all have a wonderful and calm one?

– First of all, we shouldn’t wait for the New Year. The New Year is about summing up the results. Throughout your life, you need to build relationships with other people in such a way that, as one book says, you don’t feel excruciatingly painful for the way you lived your life, what you did. Step by step, strive towards your realization, towards the intended goal that you have set for yourself. And then everything will work out. The main thing is to act.

— Do you have any goals to set for the year?

– Certainly. It’s impossible without this.

— Do you have any main dream or goal that you would like to set for yourself in the New Year?

“And I always have one goal: for people to be kinder and visit more often.”

– And something for yourself?

– For myself? Once upon a time, in 17 or 18, I dreamed of having my own Grandfathermobile, and now I have it.

– Sled?

– Why? I have a beautiful minibus where you can drink tea, sit, chat, and be on time everywhere. Ah, I remembered: now I dream that Grandfather will have a helicopter, so that he can manage everything everywhere and do everything.

— Have you ever been in love?

– I’m always in love. First of all, I love life, I love snow, I love people, I adore children’s letters. I read them with great love. I give gifts to children with great love. You need to cook with great love, and then the food will be delicious. If you cook without love, you will end up with some kind of concoction that no one will eat. I believe it is not without reason that they say that love will save the world. So I fall in love every second. This is probably a normal state. If a person does not love anyone, but only loves himself, then he is a pure egoist and is unlikely to be interesting to anyone in the future.

— What do you most often ask Santa Claus? Probably how old is Grandfather?

— We recently clarified this issue with my colleagues. In general, Grandfather Frost is the head of the clan, and he has always been, even under the primitive system. Then, when some kind of state relations began to form, there was still some elder who knew something, said something and suggested something on how to act in a given situation. And that’s what I’m doing: I’ve had letters like this where they first addressed various authorities, and in the end they addressed me…

— Tell us, what was this year like for you? Was there more good stuff or were there bad moments too?

– Hello, friends. In fact, this year has been very magical, filled with fabulous travels. Just recently I went to Tol Babai (the Udmurt fairytale giant) and Morozets Pakkaina in Karelia. And soon we will go on a trip with Grandfather to various fairy-tale friends.
