Sandu called on the EU to start accession negotiations for Moldova in 2024

Moldova’s accession to the European Union will provide a vital contribution to the stability and security of Europe. This opinion was expressed by Moldovan President Maia Sandu on Wednesday, May 10.
For the sake of European security and strengthening relations between Chisinau and Brussels, the politician called on the European Union to start negotiations on Moldova’s entry into this integration association as early as early 2024.
In support of her call, Sandu assured that the rapprochement of Moldova with the European Union will increase the effectiveness of countering hybrid attacks allegedly undertaken by Russia.
Sandu stated in January that Moldova will become part of the European Union in the coming years – until the end of the current decade, but for this, every citizen of the state must make an effort.
At the same time, the former president of Moldova, the head of the Moldovan Communist Party, Vladimir Voronin, expressed the opinion that Chisinau is only imitating the process of European integration in order to receive financial support from Brussels under this pretext. In reality, Moldova failed to fulfill the EU plans to obtain the status of a candidate member of the European Union, and failed the required reformssaid the politician.
