Samsung introduced two new smartphones – Galaxy S23 Tactical and XCover 6 Pro Tactical, which are designed for use by military and law enforcement agencies.
The new devices received a rugged housing certified according to the military standard MIL-STD-810H, which also has dust and moisture protection at the IP68 level. A feature of smartphones is the support for data protection Samsung Knox and Knox Dual Data at Rest, the presence of the Samsung DeX protocol for connecting an external monitor and keyboard, and in addition, touch screen control is adapted to gloved hands. A separate stealth mode is provided, in which all communication elements are disabled.
Devices come preloaded with the Android Team Awareness Kit and Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Observation Kit apps that collect and process data about the user’s environment and condition. Integration with night vision systems, radio communication systems, drones, rangefinders and other military devices is provided. The Galaxy S23 Tactical and XCover 6 Pro Tactical bundle also includes special protective cases that allow you to attach gadgets to soldiers’ equipment.
Technically, the new devices repeat the standard Samsung smartphones for the general market, but models of the Galaxy Tactical Edition family are sold only to government agencies.
