Samsung added a function to block personal data of the smartphone when handing over for repair

Korean company Samsung introduced new feature Maintenance Mode (service mode), thanks to which, when the smartphone is returned to the repair shop, it will block access to the user’s confidential data. For the first time, the new feature will appear on the Samsung S22, and will later appear on other models.
When maintenance mode is activated, a new account will be automatically created, preventing access to the user’s personal data. Access to messages, contacts, photos and installed applications will be blocked. The repairman will be able to install their apps, but they will be automatically removed when maintenance mode is disabled. In July 2022, testing of the new feature was launched in South Korea, and in September in China. During 2023, Samsung plans to launch maintenance mode on more smartphones.
