In the central match of the tenth round of the Russian Championship, Krylia Sovetov won a major victory over Spartak – 4:0. Samara scored 21 points and still occupy second place. But Dynamo failed to enter the top three, achieving a draw in the meeting with Akhmat – 1:1.

The stakes in the Krylya Sovetov-Spartak match were very high, because the winner received second place as a prize. Moreover, it was worth thinking seriously before, out of inertia, calling the capital’s club the favorite of this confrontation.

Samara are extremely good in the current championship, especially in attack: they scored 21 goals in nine rounds and were the leaders in this indicator in the Premier League, even though many teams had already played a match more.

So Spartak, which recently seemed to have established cooperation in defense and played to zero three times in a row, including the Russian Cup, immediately experienced the strength of the Samara attack. The hosts first lured the red and white into their half of the field, and then flew off like an arrow into a counterattack, and Yuri Gorshkov opened the scoring with a pass from Nikita Saltykov. Although one cannot fail to note the passivity of visiting defender Daniil Denisov, and the mistake of goalkeeper Alexander Maksimenko, who did not cover the near corner.

Spartak immediately responded with a volley from Quincy Promes hitting the post. But Roman Evgeniev soon made such a noise from a distance that Maksimenko barely pulled out the ball. But when in the middle of the first half the Wings activated Gorshkov again, he flawlessly shot from the penalty area line into the corner farthest from Maksimenko and scored a double. At the same time, the Samara team not only took the lead 2:0, but also clearly had the courage. For example, Glenn Bale believed in himself so much that he even tried to score from fifty meters.

Meanwhile, the red and white did not seem to understand at all how to break into the opponent’s defense, and when they sometimes succeeded, something still prevented them from even getting a shot on target, not to mention making the goalkeeper spin like a squirrel in the wheel Bogdan Ovsyannikov.

But Fernando Costanza had an iron moment before the break in order to completely declassify Spartak. The Brazilian missed the goal and left the guests minimal chances for a positive result.

However, in order to return to the game, the head coach of the red-and-whites, Guillermo Abascal, had to admit that he had once again made a mistake with the starting lineup, and urgently make adjustments. But no, the Spanish specialist did not make any substitutions. There were no changes in the nature of the match. In the second half, “Wings” continued to follow their tactical plan with an emphasis on sharp counterattacks.

Only by the 60th minute did Abascal mature and release three fresh players in one slot, but he surprised a lot by removing the undisputed leader of the team, the irreplaceable Promes. True, Anton Zinkovsky from his zone finally created a real threat to the hosts’ goal, and Ovsyannikov with great difficulty averted it. But, as it turned out, this was just an episode, and everything ended for Spartak not just bad, but very bad. Bale and Costanza helped Benjamin Garre score, and Alexander Sobolev received a yellow card and will now miss the all-important derby with CSKA in the next round due to too many warnings.

And that turned out to be not all. At the end of the match, Srdjan Babic and Maksimenko scored the fourth goal, presenting the ball to Samara striker Vladislav Shitov, who rolled it into the empty net. “Wings of the Soviets” defeated the red-whites, as they say, by one wicket, securing second place with 21 points.

The defeat of Spartak opened the way to Dynamo’s top three, but it still had to defeat Akhmat in Grozny. And the blue and white had serious difficulties in solving this complex problem.

In the middle of the first half, they ignored Svetoslav Kovachev, allowing him to receive the ball in the penalty area, and the Bulgarian billiard-style put it into the bottom corner. And then the guests suffered a lot trying to get to the Akhmat goal. In addition, Daniil Fomin did not use a rare chance, hitting the frame.

In the second half, Marcel Lička’s team pushed the Grozny team from a set piece, and Roberto Fernandez headed in Bitello’s cross. This goal opened up the game, and the teams exchanged a series of sharp attacks, but they also had significant problems with implementation. Akhmat’s newcomer Daniel Junior didn’t even hit the empty target with the ball that bounced off the post after Bernard Berisha’s shot. As a result, the match ended in a 1:1 draw, which allowed Dynamo with 16 points to only catch up with Spartak and CSKA.
