Saldo proposed to create a separate federal district for new regions

In Russia, it is necessary to create a separate federal district for the annexed regions, declared acting head of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“In my opinion, of course, it would probably be advisable in the future, judging by the logistics, transport proximity, the legislation of the special (economic) regime that will be introduced now, to create a new district,” he said on SPIEF.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said in early March that the decision to create a federal district for the new regions of Russia had not yet been made. According to him, “various options are being explored” and decisions will be made in a timely manner “if necessary.”

At the end of February, the head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, said that the issue of creating a federal district from the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions was “already overdue.”
