The first stage of the Russian Alpine Skiing Cup started in Kirovsk (Murmansk Region). The strongest athletes from Russia and the Republic of Belarus take part in it. About 100 skiers came to the start of the slalom race. An athlete from the Sakhalin region won bronze at the competition, the press service of the regional sports ministry said.

Among women, Shkanova, a participant in four Winter Olympic Games, won gold. Gornostaeva has a silver medal. The bronze medal was taken by Vitalina Girina from the Moscow Region. In fourth place is the island skier Sofya Krokhina.

In men, after the first track, the leaders of the Russian national team, Alexander Khoroshilov and Semyon Efimov, showed the best time.

However, Khoroshilov did not finish on the second track, and Efimov from the Moscow region became the winner.

The second prize-winner is Alexander Andrienko from the Kaluga region. The bronze medal went to Leonid Tryasov, a graduate of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk alpine skiing and snowboarding school.

Formerly MK on Sakhalin reported that winter swimming competitions were held in the Korsakov district. The oldest participant in the competition was 82-year-old Margarita Tartyshnaya.
